Shazequin is a product of the crazy mind of artist Shaz Bilyard. Shaz is a British-South African artist.

 

Always someone’s daughter, wife or mother, Shaz finally found her raison d’être when she was gifted a mannequin for her 54th birthday. She created the first Shazequin in August 2015, having never even known she could paint before.

Shaz has lived in Portugal since 2009. She owes her life to the incredible doctors and nurses of the Portuguese national health service, the SNS, who diagnosed and treated her AL Amyloidosis, a rare and incurable blood disease.  Thanks to the SNS, Shaz was able to start painting again after a year of serious illness and is now able to live a normal life again despite the disease.
